Double tragedy, as Jigawa governor attends eldest son’s burial day after mother’s death

The family of Umar Namadi, the governor of Jigawa State, has been marked by profound sorrow.

A day after the death of his mother, Hajiya Maryam Namadi, the governor’s eldest son, Abdulwahab Umar Namadi, tragically died in a car accident on Thursday.

The fatal incident occurred when Abdulwahab was driving back from Kafin Hausa to Dutse with friends.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that he lost control of his vehicle, which subsequently somersaulted.

While his friends suffered various injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment at Dutse General Hospital, Abdulwahab was pronounced dead at the scene.

This sudden loss has left a significant impact not only on his immediate family but also on the broader community.

In light of this tragedy, residents from Dutse and Kafin Hausa have been visiting the governor’s residence to express their condolences.

A close family friend described Abdulwahab as a humble and responsible young man who had a promising future ahead of him.

His death is seen as a considerable loss for both his family and the state.

Governor Namadi himself attended the funeral held at Kafin Hausa Central Mosque, where he expressed his grief publicly. He urged people to remember them in their prayers during this challenging time, emphasizing that it is Allah’s will and that they cannot question it.

Official condolences

The Jigawa State Information Commissioner released an official statement expressing condolences to Governor Namadi and his family during this painful moment. The statement reflected the collective mourning felt across Jigawa State for both Abdulwahab and his grandmother.
