Gunmen storm Kano community

Gunmen storm Kano community

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers attacked Garo town in Kabo Local Government Area of Kano State.

This event occurred in the early hours of Sunday, specifically around 1:20 a.m.

The gunmen, numbering approximately ten individuals, targeted the residence of a well-known businessman named Alhaji Auwal.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that three of the gunmen were armed with guns, while the remaining seven carried other weapons. They forcibly gained entry into the house by breaking through a smaller door. Once inside, they gathered the entire family in one location, creating an atmosphere filled with fear and panic among the family members.

During this distressing situation, the head of the family pleaded with the gunmen to spare his loved ones. In an attempt to negotiate their safety, he offered to meet their demands. The kidnappers then demanded money and were handed over ₦8 million (approximately $10,000). Despite receiving this ransom, they proceeded to abduct Zainab, the eldest daughter of the family and a secondary school graduate.

Following the abduction, Zainab’s whereabouts remain unknown as there has been no communication from the kidnappers regarding her condition or demands for further ransom. This incident has left the community in fear, prompting residents to call on local authorities to take action against rising insecurity in their area.

The Kano Police Command has confirmed this attack on the Kano community through its spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa. He stated that an investigation has been initiated to apprehend those responsible for this crime.

This attack on the Kano community indicates ongoing issues related to security and kidnapping in Nigeria, particularly in regions where such incidents have become increasingly common.
