Heatwave hits Morocco, will persist till Tuesday
Temperatures ranging between 43 and 46 degrees Celsius will hit several provinces across Morocco amid the heatwave that started on Friday.
A new orange level weather notice from the Moroccan General Directorate of Meteorology (DMN) said that the heatwave will continue until Tuesday.
The heatwave will affect the provinces of Ouezzane, Moulay Yaacoub, Taounate, Fez, Meknes, Khemisset, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Beni Mellal, and Fquih Ben Salah, DMN noted, adding that the same weather will hit Rehamna, El Kelaa des Seraghna, Taroudant, Tan-Tan and the interior of provinces of Larache and Kenitra.
During this period, temperatures ranging between 39 and 43 degrees will also concern the Rabat region, particularly in the interior of the provinces of Skhirat-Temara and Sale.
Also expected to be hit by the same weather aren the provinces of Guercif, El Hajeb, Taza, Khenifra, Khouribga, Settat, Benslimane, Sidi Bennour, Berrechid, Marrakech, Youssoufia, and Zagora.
Meanwhile, temperatures between 43 and 46 degrees will hit the provinces of Assa-Zag, Smara, and the interior of the provinces of Aousserd and Oued Eddahab.
Such hot weather makes beaches across Morocco both locals’ and tourists’ top destinations for tackling the country’s summer heatwaves.
However, hydration and sunscreen are much recommended to avoid skin issues and fever-related problems.
Lack of water intake could result in heat stress, including cramps, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke, among other health concerns.
Heath stress can result in different symptoms, including sweating, dizziness, and collapse.
