Ilorin 1st female professor appointed Kwara University of Education VC
The Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has appointed Prof. Medinat Salman as the pioneer vice chancellor of the newly established Kwara State University of Education (KWSUED), Ilorin.
The appointment, the government said, is with immediate effect.
Salman is the first female professor from the Ilorin Emirate appointed in 2018.
She will serve in an acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive vice chancellor for the new institution.
A professor of Mathematics Education, Salman was until her appointment, a lecturer at the department of Science Education and coordinator of the Educational Technology Centre at the University of Ilorin.

Background of Prof. Medinat Salman
Prof. Salman is a distinguished academic with a specialization in Mathematics Education. Prior to her appointment, she served as a lecturer at the Department of Science Education and was also the coordinator of the Educational Technology Centre at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN). Her educational background includes:
- A Bachelor of Education degree obtained from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, in 1985.
- A Master’s degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Ilorin, completed in 1990.
- A doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Mathematics Education, also from the University of Ilorin, which she earned in 1998.

Prof. Salman’s research interests are diverse and impactful, focusing on critical areas such as:
