Iran Guards praise Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement as victory for Palestinians

The recent ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas has garnered attention and reactions from various parties involved in the conflict.

One notable response came from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which characterized the ceasefire as a “victory” for Palestinians and a “defeat” for Israel.

This statement reflects Iran’s long-standing support for Palestinian groups and its opposition to Israeli actions in the region.

The ceasefire deal was reached after 15 months of intense fighting in the Gaza Strip, culminating in a hard-won agreement that was announced by U.S. President Joe Biden, Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and officials from Hamas.

The agreement not only aims to halt hostilities but also includes provisions for the release of hostages held by Hamas and Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. It is designed to allow displaced Palestinians to return home and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, which has been severely impacted by the ongoing conflict.

The IRGC’s statement emphasized that the end of hostilities represents a significant achievement for Palestine, framing it as a setback for what they refer to as the “monstrous Zionist regime.”

This rhetoric aligns with Iran’s broader geopolitical stance, where it positions itself as a supporter of resistance movements against Israel.

The ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel is structured into three distinct phases, each aimed at addressing the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Below are the key components of the deal:

The agreement includes a pause in hostilities, the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas, and the release of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.

This marks the second ceasefire since the conflict escalated on October 7, 2023.
