Jigawa governor, Umar Namadi, loses mother
The governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, has announced the death of his mother, Hajiya Maryam Namadi-Umar.
She died at the age of 90 after a brief illness at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in Kano State.
The announcement was made by the governor’s spokesperson, Hamisu Mohammed Gumel, in a statement released on December 25, 2024.
According to the information provided, she passed away in the early hours of that day after a brief illness.
The statement expressed deep sorrow and submission to the will of Allah regarding her passing.
It highlighted that Hajiya Maryam Namadi-Umar was laid to rest later that same day at 4:30 PM in her hometown of Kafin Hausa, following Islamic burial traditions.
Her funeral prayer was held at the Kafin Hausa Central Mosque with dignitaries from within and outside Jigawa State including Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Chief of staff to the vice president Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia in attendance.

Hajiya Maryam survived with two sons, the Jigawa State governor, Umar Namadi and Abdullahi Namadi a permanent Secretary at the State ministry of Environment.
Governor Umar Namadi could not participate in the funeral rites of his mother because he was in China for an official engagement.
The governor and his family have requested prayers from the public for the repose of her soul during this difficult time.
Her death marks a significant personal loss for Governor Umar Namadi as he navigates his responsibilities as the Chief Executive of Jigawa State while mourning the death of his mother. The community is encouraged to support him and his family with prayers and condolences.
