Nasarawa governor dismisses all cabinet members, SSG
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has made significant changes to his administration by sacking all commissioners and the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Muhammad Aliyu-Ubamdoma.
This decision was officially announced during an emergency executive meeting held at the Government House in Lafia, shortly after Vice President Kashim Shetima’s visit to inaugurate state projects.
The announcement was communicated through a statement signed by Mohammed Iliyasu-Idde, the Permanent Secretary for Cabinet Affairs and Special Services.

The statement indicated that the dissolution of the cabinet took effect immediately, instructing all outgoing commissioners to hand over their responsibilities and any government property in their possession to the Permanent Secretaries of their respective ministries.
Similarly, the SSG was directed to transfer his duties to the Permanent Secretary for Cabinet Affairs and Special Services.
While specific reasons for this sweeping change were not explicitly stated, it is noted that Governor Sule has a history of restructuring his administration.
In 2021, he similarly dissolved his executive council, citing a need for a more effective governance structure. This pattern suggests that such actions may be part of an ongoing strategy to optimize state governance.
A source within the government mentioned that although the exact motivations behind this latest dissolution remain unclear, it reflects Governor Sule’s approach towards administrative efficiency and effectiveness. As citizens await further clarification on how these changes will impact governance in Nasarawa State, there is anticipation regarding who will be appointed as replacements in these key positions.
The governor expressed gratitude towards all outgoing appointees for their service and wished them well in future endeavors. He emphasized that this decision would allow other qualified individuals an opportunity to contribute to state governance.
Furthermore, he indicated plans for appointing a new cabinet promptly so that his administration can effectively implement the 2025 budget recently signed into law.
