The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Salman Dogo Garba, has addressed a security alert regarding a potential terrorist attack during the Tijjaniyya Maulud celebration which took place over the weekend.

He said his men arrested a suspect and recovered explosives which were suspected to be planned for usage dring the Tijjaniyya Maulud celebration in Kano.

During a press briefing, CP Garba explained that following the alert about an impending attack during the Tijjaniyya Maulud celebration, the police took immediate steps to ensure public safety.

The police raised awareness among residents and collaborated with various stakeholders to enhance security measures during the Maulud. They deployed personnel strategically across key areas where large gatherings were expected.

One notable incident involved tracking down a suspect who had initially fled the state after the alert was issued. The police managed to apprehend this individual after tracing him back to Kano. The arrest was facilitated by detaining his host, who had access to his residence. This operation resulted in recoveries, including explosives that could have been used for malicious purposes.
