Retired Nigerian sports men, women get leaders in Kano

Location: Kano, Nigeria

The Association of Retired Nigerian Sports Men and Women (ARNISMW) wishes to inform the general public and stakeholders in the Nigerian sports sector of the outcome of its recent meeting held on Thursday, 10th July 2025, in Kano State, pursuant to the directive of the National President.

The meeting, held in an atmosphere of unity and shared vision, brought together retired sports professionals to discuss the future of the Association in Kano State. Following deliberations and broad consultations, the Kano State Chapter leadership was constituted and officially ratified as follows:

  1. Barr. Bashari Ahmed Maizare, Ph.D – State Coordinator, Kano

A distinguished retired Director of Sports, Kano State Sports Commission, former Chairman, Forum of State Directors of Sports in Nigeria, and current *Northwest Zonal Representative, Nigeria Association of Physical, Health Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance (NAPHER-SD).

  1. Mr. Eddoh Uzoamaka – Assistant State Coordinator

A seasoned Athletics Chief Coach with the Kano State Sports Commission.

  1. Mr. Kolawole Reuben – Treasurer

A former Basketball player, previously with the Nigeria Immigration Basketball Team, Kano.

  1. Mr. Wilson Idanwekhai – Secretary

A former Basketball player, now a Basketball Coach with the Kano State Basketball Association

The Association recognizes and appreciates the dedication, experience, and commitment of the newly appointed officials and expresses full confidence in their ability to provide effective leadership and further the mission of ARNISMW in Kano State.

We call on all retired sports men and women in Kano and across Nigeria to support this leadership and work collectively towards promoting the welfare, recognition, and inclusion of retired athletes in national development.
