Tinubu sacks, redeploys ministers in Nigeria 

President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria on Wednesday made significant changes to his cabinet by sacking five ministers, appointing seven new ones, and redeploying ten others.

This reshuffle was part of his strategy to assess the performance of his administration after spending over a year in office.

Details of the Cabinet Changes

Sacked Ministers: The five ministers who were dismissed from their positions include:

Uju-Ken Ohanenye (Women Affairs)

Lola Ade-John (Tourism)

Prof Tahir Mamman (Education)

Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo (State, Housing and Urban Development)

Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim (Youth Development)

Redeployed Ministers

Ten ministers were reassigned to different portfolios:

Hon Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu: Formerly Minister of State for Education, now Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

 

 

Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa: Former Minister of State for Health, now Minister of Education.

Bello Muhammad Goronyo: Former Minister of State for Water Resources and Sanitation, now Minister of State for Works.

Hon. Abubakar Eshiokpekha Momoh: Former Minister for Niger Delta Development, now Minister of Regional Development.

Uba Maigari Ahmadu: Formerly Minister of State for Steel Development, now Minister of State for Regional Development.

Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite: Formerly Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, now Minister of State for Finance.

Senator John Owan Enoh: Formerly Minister of Sports Development, now Minister of State for Trade and Investment (Industry).

Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim: Formerly Minister of State for Police Affairs, now Minister of Women Affairs.

Ayodele Olawande: Formerly Minister of State for Youth Development, now the full minister for Youth Development.

Dr. Salako Iziaq Adekunle Adeboye: Formerly Minister of State for Environment, now Minister of State for Health.

New Appointments

Seven new ministers have been appointed whose positions are subject to confirmation by the Senate:

Dr Nentawe Yilwatda (Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction)

Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi (Labour & Employment)

Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu (State Foreign Affairs)

Dr Jumoke Oduwole (Industry, Trade and Investment)

Idi Mukhtar Maiha (Livestock Development)

Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata (State Housing and Urban Development)

Suwaiba Said Ahmad (State Education)

These changes reflect President Tinubu’s ongoing efforts to optimize his cabinet’s effectiveness after spending over a year in office
