UNILORIN Faculty of Law launches The Jurist edition in honour of Nureini Jimoh
The Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin, on Thursday honoured Nureini Soladoye Jimoh, SAN, during the launch of the 28th edition of its flagship publication, The Jurist.
Held at the Old Moot Court Complex of the faculty, the event was attended by lawyers, academia, and university leadership.
According to the organisers, The Jurist consists of materials designed to spotlight the lives and legacies of eminent jurists while featuring “rich, thought-provoking articles on legal doctrines, emerging jurisprudential debates, and contemporary socio-legal issues.”

The 2025 edition was dedicated to Mr. Jimoh for “his unwavering commitment to the legal profession and his consistent support for legal education and mentorship in Nigeria.”
Jimoh had previously received similar honours from institutions such as Bayero University Kano, University of Benin, Igbinedion University, and others.
The event was graced by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, who was accompanied by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services) Registrar of the University, Mal Mansur Adeleke Alfanla and other principal officers and senate members of the university, Deans of Faculties, Professors of Law, and other distinguished scholars.

Others include Mallam Yusuf Ali, SAN, Chief Adelodun, SAN, and K.K. Eleja, SAN (all ably represented), while B.R. Gold, SAN attended in person. Mrs Folashade Aladeniyi, the immediate Past Chairman of NBA, Ibadan was present too.
Members of the judiciary that attended include Justice E.B. Muhammed, Justice Nureni Kuranga and Justice G. A. Sumonu of the Oyo State High Court. The gathering also welcomed prominent alumni and senior lawyers from within and outside Kwara State.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Jimoh expressed heartfelt gratitude to the faculty, students, and organisers. He commended the University for its exceptional standards and pledged his continued support for legal education and development.

He made a ₦2 million donation during the launch of the journal and had earlier contributed ₦1.5 million to support the Law Students’ Society in preparation for the event. Other dignitaries followed suit with generous donations that marked the journal launch as a record-breaking success.
The Dean of Law, Prof. Nimah Modupe Abdulraheem appreciated the honoree’s contribution to legal education and development. She presented the Faculty Award to the honoree. The dignitaries also celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the University.
