AKTH refutes misconduct allegations against staff in Brekete Family program
The allegations of misconduct against staff members of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) in relation to the Brekete Family program have been officially denied by the hospital’s management.
AKTH circulated a statement on Sunday clarifying that the claims made regarding their staff, especially doctors’ involvement in any form of misconduct during the airing of the Brekete Family program, are unfounded and lack credibility.
The Brekete Family program, known for its focus on human rights issues and advocacy for the oppressed, often features real-life situations where individuals seek justice or assistance.
Given its nature, Brekete Family program can attract various controversies, including allegations against participants or associated organizations.

AKTH’s refutal has however been described by a commentator, Salihi Abubakar in a WhatsApp group, as too hasty. He said the denial should’t have come before the probe and could “in fact affect whatever investigation they may decide to conduct later, because the so-called investigation will only be a charade to justify the initial refutal.”
Another commentator, an investigator who asked not to be named said “It is very wrong to say: “…the accusation is categorically false, but the hospital will investigate further…”
He explained further that “‘categorically false’ and ‘will investigate further’ automatically contradict each other.”
