Kabiru Gaya, Alasan Doguwa, Others Petition IGP over Alleged Criminal Activities by G-7 Faction

Kabiru Gaya, Alasan Doguwa, Others Petition IGP over Alleged Criminal Activities by G-7 Faction

The All Progressive Congress (APC) faction loyal to Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has written a petition to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) against the Ibrahim Shekarau faction over what they called criminal activities leading to series of crisis in the state.

They asked the IGP to take action against the Shekarau-led group to safe the state from descending into anarchy.

The petition dated December, 6th, 2021 and jointly signed by Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya (Kano North), Alhassan Ado Doguwa (Majority Leader of House of Reps) and others, alleged the Senator Ibrahim Shekarau faction of criminal activities which they said led to a series of crisis in the state.

The petition was titled “Criminal complaints against action of Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, Barau I. Jibrin, Nasiru Auduwa, Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, Shaaban Ibrahim Sharada, Haruna Isa Dederi and Ahmadu Haruna Zago To Wit: causing violence, sponsoring public unrest uprising, instigation of thuggery, breach of peace, civil unrest and mayhem in Kano state.”

In the petition, they accused the Senator Shekarau led faction of  conspiring and procuring armed thugs and attempted to take over the party secretariat in Kano, urging the IGP, as a matter of urgency to commence investigation and arrest the culprits.

According to the petition, “We are members, leaders and executives of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Kano State chapter and as responsible party stakeholders, we lodge the following criminal complaint against the above mentioned persons to enable your office same with a view at a possible prosecution of the culprits.”

The petition accused G-7 of relying on a judgment of an FCT High Court to foment trouble in the state, adding that the said judgement that favored the group was about ward congress not state and that an appeal has been filed by the state government.

The said petition appeared to be a response to an earlier one written to the same IGP by the Shekarau-led faction (G-7) to complain about an attack on Senator Barau Jibrin’s campaign office in Kano.

G-7 pointed an accusing finger at Gov. Ganduje’s faction, saying it was responsible for the arson as well threat to the lives of its members.
