Kano Pillars plead for mercy over N12m fine by NPFL disciplinary committee

The management of Kano Pillars football club has pleaded with the Nigeria Premier League Football (NPFL) Disciplinary Committee to reconsider its stance over the N12,250,000 fine imposed on the team.

It will be recalled the club was due to alleged misconduct of some political thugs which led to delay in transmission of a live broadcast as well as throwing objects into the Pitch in protest of the decision of the match official during its week 17 Premier League match against visiting Plateau United at Sani Abacha Stadium Kofar Mata Kano.

In a letter signed by the secretary of the club, Sani Ibrahim and made available to journalists, the club condemned the act in totality while enjoining the committee “to be calmed and above all be composed in treating such kind of intricated issue in view of your role as impartial umpire”.

The letter added that as it is a known fact that human beings are mistakes bound hence the need to look upward and downward over the matter with a viewing to treating justice with mercy.

“As we believe that the matter will be a forgone issue, we promised you that additional steps will be taken collectively by the Management and Leadership of the Fans club aimed at ensuring the team maintain its prestige position among other clubs in the country,” the letter said.
