‘Unstable’ Portable arraigned for assault, other offences

‘Unstable’ Portable arraigned for assault, other offences

Nigerian musician, Habeeb Okikiola (popularly known as Portable) has been arraigned at the High Court in Ifo, Ogun State.

Portable ran into trouble when the police arrested him on Friday, March 31, 2023 after displaying irrational behaviour and insulting police officers who were said to be performing their legal duties at his bar.

He was also reported to resisted police arrest on Thursday.

The police spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has said that the controversial singer will face more than six charges in court.

The “Zazu Zeh” crooner will face charges bordering on assault, resisting arrest and injuring a policeman.

The police also said “He will be charged to court for beating up a guy in Ota, who filed a petition to CP Ogun.

“There are many pending cases of assaults on people and attacks, and he will be investigated because people have complained against him.

“So, there is no sentiment in law, let him appear in court, and allow the judge to listen to the charges against him. He has no constitutional immunity anyway,” the police spokesman had said.

Reacting to his arraignment, a Nigerian music fan from Ogun State said “I think he’s unstable. He behaves in weird manner and has continued to be rude, while displaying some crude and uncivilized behaviours. He involves in more controversies than he involves in music these days. “
