2027: PRP clears Donald Duke as presidential candidate, fields 420 contenders
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has officially cleared the former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, as its duly elected presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The decision was finalized on Friday, following the NWC’s extensive review of the report submitted by the party’s Primaries Appeal Committee.
In a statement made available to NigerianSketch.com on Friday, the national publicity secretary of the PRP, Comrade Muhammed Ishaq, confirmed that the appeal committee’s review verified Duke as “validly elected” to fly the party’s flag in the upcoming presidential polls.
Appeal committee upholds results, nullifies one seat
Beyond the apex ticket, the appeal committee upheld four other contested primary election outcomes across the country. However, it was not a clean sweep for all aspirants, as the party leadership wielded the big stick in Kano State.

“All other candidates have been duly cleared to contest in the upcoming elections, with the exception of Tarauni Federal Constituency, whose election has been nullified,” Ishaq stated.
420 candidates cleared
As political parties begin aligning their structures ahead of the 2027 general elections, the PRP is positioning itself as a major contender. According to Ishaq, the party is fielding a massive cohort of 420 candidates across various legislative and executive positions nationwide.
Reiterating the party’s core ideology, the image-maker emphasized that the PRP’s selection process reflects its deep-rooted belief in transparency and grassroots governance.
“We remain committed to the principles of internal democracy and service, and to delivering a credible and transformative leadership for Nigeria,” Ishaq added.
With Donald Duke—a veteran politician known for his urban development and economic strides during his tenure in Cross River—leading the vanguard, the PRP aims to present a formidable alternative to Nigeria’s dominant political parties in 2027.
