Barcelona consider Osimhen to replace Lewandowski

Spanish giants Barcelona are reportedly setting their sights on Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski when the Polish forward’s contract expires next year.

According to Mundo Deportivo correspondent Gabriel Sans, manager Hansi Flick and his team have placed Osimhen high on their shortlist and are “keeping a close eye” on his performances at Galatasaray.

Though no official negotiations have started, the Catalan club are expected to make a move in 2026.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also confirmed that Barcelona are actively exploring the striker market, with Osimhen among the leading names being monitored.

The 26-year-old joined Galatasaray permanently last summer from Napoli for a record €75 million, following a successful loan spell.

His contract reportedly includes a clause barring him from joining an Italian club for two years, potentially giving Barcelona an advantage in any future transfer.

Osimhen has maintained his stellar form in Turkey, netting 43 goals in 50 games for Galatasaray.

His consistent performances have strengthened his reputation as one of the most lethal forwards in world football.

While Dusan Vlahovic is another striker being considered, sources suggested Barcelona view Osimhen as a more dynamic option to lead their attack in the post-Lewandowski era.

Osimhen came close to joining Chelsea in 2024, but the move collapsed over personal terms. Now, a switch to Barcelona could finally see the Nigerian star secure the high-profile move many expected earlier in his career.
