CONTEMPT: Kano High Court fixes date to hear suit against ECWA president, others
The Kano State High Court has scheduled March 26, 2026, to commence hearing on contempt proceedings initiated against the President of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) and several other high-ranking officials.
The legal showdown follows allegations of persistent defiance regarding multiple judicial pronouncements.
The crisis stems from a long-standing controversy involving the ECWA Executive and the leadership of the defunct Kano Central District Church Council (DCC).
On August 18, 2025, the Kano State High Court issued a ruling nullifying the existence of the Kano Central DCC. Despite this judicial dissolution, reports indicate that the ECWA leadership has continued to recognize and operate through the nullified entity.

Public interest in the case spiked recently following the ECWA president’s visit to Kano. During the visit, the president allegedly demonstrated public solidarity with the leadership of the nullified DCC, a move interpreted by observers as a direct affront to the authority of the court.
