‘NO VIDEO CALLS, JUST AUDIO’: Self-acclaimed PFIPC boss details alleged secret calls with Gbaja
Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-acclaimed Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), has claimed that his only interactions with the Chief of Staff to the president, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, occurred through a deceased intermediary.
Adeyemi made this disclosure on Tuesday during an interview with popular social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as Verydarkman (VDM), as the dust refuses to settle over the alleged “phantom” council.
According to Adeyemi, he has never had a physical meeting with the Chief of Staff, either before or after his purported appointment to head the PFIPC.
‘No video calls, only audio’
Elaborating on his communication with the Presidency, Adeyemi stated that his interactions were strictly via voice calls facilitated by his late associate, Dolapo Tanimola.
“I think three times I have spoken with Gbajabiamila, through my late friend, Dolapo Tanimola,” Adeyemi claimed during the interview.
When pressed by VDM on whether these conversations were held via video call to confirm identity, Adeyemi replied, “No, it was not on video call.”
The Backstory: Presidency disowns PFIPC
The controversy stems from a firm rebuttal by the Presidency in June, which disowned the PFIPC and categorically stated that no such organisation exists under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
On June 11, Gbajabiamila issued a statement distancing both himself and the federal government from Adeyemi, maintaining that no such appointment was ever made.
On June 26, Adeyemi held a press conference challenging the authenticity of Gbajabiamila’s disclaimer and demanded an independent investigation.
When asked during Tuesday’s interview if he was accusing the Chief of Staff of falsehood, Adeyemi took a cautious stance, insisting that only an impartial probe could reveal the truth.
“I would not say he is lying, and I won’t say he is saying the truth. That is why, during my press conference, I pleaded with Mr. President to set up an investigative panel to look into this whole issue and unravel the truth to know who is involved,” he added.
Rising Stakes: ₦10 billion lawsuit and ICPC probe
The ongoing drama has taken a legal and criminal turn, escalating rapidly over the last few days.
| Key Development | Details |
| Defamation Threat | Gbajabiamila has threatened a ₦10 billion defamation lawsuit against Adeyemi over wild allegations linking the Chief of Staff to bribery and the murder of the late Tanimola. |
| Presidential Directive | President Bola Tinubu has officially stepped in, giving the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) a strict 30-day ultimatum to thoroughly investigate the controversy. |
As the ICPC probe begins, public interest remains high regarding how a seemingly non-existent federal agency managed to spark a high-stakes standoff at the highest level of Nigerian governance.
