‘I’M NOT A NOMADIC POLITICIAN’, Ganduje debunks rumours of defection to NDC
The former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ex-governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has refuted viral social media reports claiming he has defected to the New Democratic Congress (NDC).
Dismissing the claims as the handiwork of mischief-makers, Ganduje declared that he remains fully committed to the ruling party, stating firmly that he is not a “nomadic politician” or a “vulture flying from one tree to another” for political convenience.
The denial was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by his close ally, the former Kano State commissioner for information and chief of staff, Comrade Muhammad Garba.

According to the statement, the posters circulating online are false, malicious, and strategically designed to mislead the public, stir confusion among APC faithful, and trigger unnecessary political anxiety.
“Dr. Ganduje has remained consistent in his political convictions and has never contemplated leaving the APC, a party he proudly served as National Chairman,” the statement read.
Garba further described the defection rumors as completely “illogical,” emphasizing that the claim lacks any political or rational foundation.
Reiterating his faith in the ruling party, Ganduje maintained that the APC remains Nigeria’s largest and most formidable political platform. He noted that the party enjoys growing acceptance across the nation and continues to consolidate its strengths under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He reaffirmed his dedication to working alongside President Tinubu and the APC leadership to deliver on the promises of the Renewed Hope Agenda, ensuring the party is well-positioned for future political engagements.
Legal actions looming
Taking a tough stance against the perpetrators, the former Kano governor revealed that those responsible for manufacturing and distributing the fake posters have already been identified.
He warned that unless they immediately retract the defamatory materials and halt their dissemination, they will face appropriate legal action.
Ganduje urged APC members, loyalists, and the general public to disregard the viral posters in their entirety, stressing that they do not reflect his political standing or future intentions.
The statement concluded by advising the public to rely strictly on official communication channels from Dr. Ganduje’s media team and the appropriate organs of the APC for authentic updates regarding his political activities.
