Abducted lawyer, Hashim Abdullahi, regains freedom after 21 days in captivity
Relief and gratitude have enveloped the legal community as Hashim Abdullahi, Esq., has finally regained his freedom after spending exactly 21 days in the custody of his abductors.
Barrister Abdullahi was kidnapped three weeks ago while traveling back to Kebbi State after attending the Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria (MULAN) National Conference in Kano.
His safe release was officially confirmed in a terse statement on Saturday by Sa’idu Muhammad Tudunwada, the immediate past president of MULAN.

The news of his release has been received with immense joy by family, colleagues, and well-wishers who had been on edge since his abduction. In his statement, Tudunwada expressed profound gratitude to God and thanked the public for their steadfastness.
”Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah. With gratitude to Almighty Allah, we are pleased to announce that our brother, Barrister Hashim Abdullahi, who was kidnapped 21 days ago, has been released safely,” the statement read.
Tudunwada further extended appreciation to everyone who stood by the family and the association during the grueling three-week ordeal. “We thank Allah for His mercy, and we sincerely appreciate everyone for your prayers, support, and concern during this difficult period. Jazakumullahu khairan (May Allah reward you with goodness).”
As previously reported by NigerianSketch, the kidnappers had initially opened negotiations with a massive demand of N200 million, which was later reduced to N100 million, before they finally demanded N50 million cash along with five Boxer motorcycles.
At the time of this report, it remains unclear whether any ransom was paid or if a security operation led to his freedom.
According to sources close to the family, Barrister Abdullahi is currently undergoing medical evaluation and resting after his lengthy trial in the hands of the gunmen.
