Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege resigns from APC after primary loss
Former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has officially resigned his membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His exit follows his recent defeat in the Delta Central senatorial primary election, where he lost the party’s ticket to the incumbent lawmaker, Senator Ede Dafinone.
Omo-Agege announced his resignation in a formal letter addressed to the APC Chairman of Orogun Ward 2, in the Ughelli North local government area of Delta State.

According to the veteran politician, the decision was reached after a thorough review of recent internal developments within the Delta State chapter of the APC, alongside extensive consultations with his political associates and core supporters.
He made it clear that the current trajectory of the party no longer aligns with his political vision or the aspirations of his people.
“I will not remain a sitting duck in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria,” Omo-Agege declared in the letter.
Despite his grievances, the former Deputy Senate President expressed gratitude to the ruling party for the platform provided to him during his tenure in the 9th National Assembly.
Omo-Agege requested that the ward leadership immediately remove his name from all APC membership records, registers, and communication lists.
While he did not immediately disclose which political party he would be defecting to, he explicitly stated that he would continue to pursue his developmental and representational goals for his constituency outside the APC.
Senator Omo-Agege maintained that his primary focus remains delivering effective representation and driving development for Delta Central, Delta State, and the nation at large.
Omo-Agege’s political future within the state APC became a subject of intense speculation after his primary loss to Senator Dafinone, a development that has now culminated in his exit from the broom party.
