How Ibrahim Little single-handedly rebuilt Kano ADC structure in 10 months – Former CPC secretary

Within just ten months of defecting to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Ibrahim Ali Little has been credited with the remarkable growth, development, and consolidation of the party structure across Kano State.

This assertion was made by Hon. Abdullahi Dankano, the former State Secretary of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and current Chairman of the CPC bloc within the Kano State ADC.

Speaking on the political developments in the state, Dankano detailed how Little’s entry transformed the party’s fortunes, making him a frontline pillar of the ADC.

Reviving party infrastructure from pocket

According to Hon. Dankano, when Alhaji Ibrahim Ali Little moved from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ADC alongside thousands of supporters, he met a severe lack of basic administrative materials.

“When he requested membership materials from the then State Chairman, Malam Musa Ungogo, he was informed that none were available,” Dankano revealed.

To salvage the situation, Little personally sponsored the printing of 100,000 membership cards, official party registers and ADC flags for distribution across the state.

Furthermore, Dankano disclosed that Ibrahim Little was the only gubernatorial aspirant who donated ₦10 million to the party’s national headquarters to procure official membership cards and support administrative logistics. In contrast, he noted that another aspirant who had donated ₦1 million later demanded a refund, which was approved and paid back by the committee.

Building a grassroots structure across 44 LGAs

Despite facing pockets of internal opposition and unfavorable attitudes, Little reportedly remained steadfast. Dankano emphasized that Ibrahim Little is the only ADC stakeholder who has successfully established a functional party structure stretching from the state level down to the local governments, wards, and polling units across all 44 LGAs of Kano.

In the eight metropolitan local government areas, some wards boast a minimum of 188 deeply rooted active members. Across the state, Little has built an organized network of over 200 dedicated members per ward, complete with contact details for seamless coordination.

“Ibrahim Ali Little’s leadership qualities, deep political experience, and unalloyed commitment are what attracted many former CPC members to join the ADC with him,” Dankano stated.

Welfare and philanthropy

Beyond party politics, the statement highlighted Little’s consistent welfare intervention for party faithful, particularly during festive seasons.

During the last Ramadan fast, the structural financier reportedly distributed 1,000 bags of 50kg rice, alongside hundreds of cartons of macaroni and spaghetti, to vulnerable ADC members across Kano State to ease economic hardships.

In light of these heavy investments, Hon. Dankano urged the national leadership of the ADC, state stakeholders, and the general electorate to recognize and reward Ibrahim Little’s immense contributions.

He concluded by calling on the party to rally behind Little’s gubernatorial aspiration, describing him as the safest hands to lead the ADC to victory in the Kano State governorship race.
